The Rehab Services Department provides a variety of modalities and treatment procedures to all areas including inpatient, outpatient, homecare and long term care.
Outpatient hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 7:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. by appointment. The rehabilitative Services department is located in the Lifetime Wellness Center.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy provides skilled, professional services to its patients and is well known and respected for its wound care programs. Also known for their highly effective, empathetic, and professional approach to a wide variety of patients has made Smyth County Community Hospitals Rehabilitative Services department second to none. Additional programs that are being developed include; incontinence, vestiublar dysfunction, industrial medicine, and sports medicine.
In addition to the above, a Spine Clinic and Brace Clinic are held in the Rehabilitation Services Department. The Smyth County Community Hospital Spine Clinic program provides comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with a variety of spinal disorders. All types of spinal disorders can be evaluated for treatment at the Spine Clinic. A treatment plan is individualized to meet each patient's specific functional needs and rehabilitation goals. The treatment outcome is prospectively monitored to ensure quality care, patient satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness. Appointments to be seen by the spine surgeon can be made by calling 540 782-1140.
The Brace Clinic is held the second and fourth Thursday of each month on a first-come, first-served basis. Hours usually run from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Inpatients and outpatients are seen at this clinic. The clinic itself is free of charge; however, fees for service are charged by our orthotist/prothetist.
Occupational Therapy
The occupational therapy department has been expanding with more involvement in establishing activities of living skills and splinting options. Fine motor skills and overall developmental dysfunction are just two major areas that occupational therapy has achieved great success with at Smyth County Community Hospital. Many patients are seen cooperatively by both Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
Audiology has recently implemented a hearing and balance center located within the Rehab department.
