Francis Marion Manor is a 109-bed Nursing Care Facility located on the Smyth County Community Hospital campus.

What is a Nursing Facility?
A Nursing Facility is a health-related facility staffed by health care professionals that is designed to provide custodial care for individuals unable to care for themselves because of mental or physical infirmity offering long term, short term, and Respite care.

Who Should Consider Intermediate Care?
Individuals whose health needs require medical and nursing supervision should consider a Nursing Facility. Both the functional capacity of the individual and his/her nursing needs must be considered in determining the appropriateness of intermediate care.

Generally, patients are eligible for admission to Francis Marion Manor (FMM) after an eligibility screening has been performed and admitting orders are provided by a physician on the medical staff of Smyth County Community Hospital. Individuals may be considered appropriate for intermediate care when they are found to require assistance in activities of daily living such as:

Bathing

Dressing

Toileting

Transferring

Bowel Function

Bladder Function

Eating/Feeding

Behavior/Orientation

Mobility

Medication Administration

Joint Motion
